Breaking Benjamin is one of those bands that has their live performance seemingly effortlessly dialed in— delivering gut-punch riffs and visceral lyrics with devastating accuracy. They have earned their place as a genre mainstay.
That power is made even more potent when paired with other cornerstone acts like Daughtry and Staind. Daughtry muscled his way through a set balanced between smash-hit singles from his post-Idol days and brand new chart-toppers from Shock to the System (Part One). It was a reminder that this veteran voice is still dropping some of the best tracks of his career.
The same could be said of Breaking Benjamin. They mysteriously flashed “10.16” on their LED screens between razor-sharp selections from their two-decade discography. The audience would later learn it was the release date for “Awaken,” which heralds a new era for Breaking Benjamin, six years after their last album of original material. If the musical coherence we saw on stage was any indication, the next chapter of Breaking Benjamin will also be one of their strongest yet.
