Slick Shoes had a great run during the west coast punk rock era from 1997 until 2003– then the California based band went silent. 17 years later, the band announced they are about to release their next full length album on September 25, 2020.
“We are pleased to announce our first album in over 17 years,” the band shared in a post on Facebook. “Rotation & Frequency is available for pre-order on https://slickshoes.ffm.to/album.”
The lead single from Slick Shoes is “Whispers” and is a nostalgic trip back in time to the punk rock days of the late 90s and early 2000s when bands like MxPx, Ghoti Hook and Five Iron Frenzy were featured artists at prominent festivals like Creation and Purple Door.
Find “Whispers” on Spotify and Apple Music.
The band reunited in 2017 for select shows and has been talking about their next project since 2019. Finally fans have a date to circle on the 2020 calendar.
To get reacquainted with Slick Shoes, I would recommend checking out their 2002 greatest hits collection The Biggest & Best (Spotify) which features classics like “Friday Night,” “Fall,” and “Spleen Puncher.”
