This week, Rockfest Records band The Persuaded announced that drummer Trent Russell will be stepping down. Stephen Cannon will be stepping in to fill the role of drummer.
“As most of you all know, for the last 2 years I’ve endured 2 back injuries that almost took drumming away from me completely. I was able to get better and overcome the odds. But unfortunately, here lately my body has had a hard time keeping up with tour life,” Trent shared in a post on the band’s Facebook. “With that being said it brings me great sadness to tell you that I will be stepping down as the drummer of The Persuaded. I have prayed and put a lot of consideration into this decision, and I feel that it is best for my physical health to stop. Sometimes God changes our direction in life, and those changes can be uncomfortable; but The Word says to lean not on our own understanding but trust in Him.”
Trent had been in the band for 9 years. He will be finishing up the rest of The Persuaded’s shows for 2019, including two shows in Ohio and a Nashville show with label mates The Protest.
After leaving some space for fans to process the news and share their best wishes with Trent, they shared that Stephen Cannon will be joining the band. “You may recognize him from playing drums for bands like Spoken, Zahna, and most recently, Silversyde. Or from being on the road with Seventh Day Slumber,” The Persuaded said. “He is an incredible drummer and an even more amazing person and friend.”
Stephen will be drumming with the band for shows starting in 2020. For show updates heading into the new year, make sure you’re following The Persuaded on Facebook and Instagram.
