Switchfoot Releases Reimagined Version of Throwback Tune “Sooner or Later”

Switchfoot has released a video for their reimagined take on old classic “Sooner or Later.” The song is part of their throwback series, revisiting old albums and songs.

“Sooner or Later” is a track featured on New Way to Be Human, released over 20 years ago in 1999. The band has also launched a limited run of merch based on the album cover, which was designed by Shepard Fairey (who would later go on to design work for Led Zeppelin and the 2008 Obama campaign). You can shop the throwback collection at switchfoot.com/collections/throwback-series. All shirts come with a download of the reimagined tune.

The video features the band playing the song live in their studio in San Diego. In their email update to fans, Switchfoot shared “It’s times like these, when the world seems to be spinning out of control and we’re all trying to make sense of what’s what, that we as artists hunker down and create. We try to untangle things ourselves, and ultimately provide hope and maybe even a bit of respite or distraction from the turmoil surrounding us. We debated whether or not we should go ahead with releasing this video today as we’d been planning… After some discussion, we all agreed- if we can be a conduit for providing moments of peace or happiness or hope, we have to. It’s our duty and our mission as musicians.”

The message of the song tied in well with some words of encouragement that the band shared on Instagram as well.
