Twenty One Pilots Releases Surprise Quarantune

twenty one pilots has put their social distance to good use, resulting in a brilliantly creative song and video from the duo, a surprise release to help members of their crew.

In a post on Facebook, the band said “we’re dedicating a portion of proceeds from ‘Level of Concern’ to Live Nation Concerts crew nation.” The video for the tune features band members Tyler Joseph (vocals, keys, guitars, bass and synthesizers) and Josh Dun (drums, percussion) recording both audio and video and mailing a USB key back and forth until a finished product yields a masterful song and video.

The video includes imagery of improvising lights and visual effects using whatever is available around their homes, with help from their families.

Lyrically, “Level of Concern” acknowledges the current panic-stricken mode the world is in while also settling into a place of comfort, knowing that through communication (in this case, mail) we can stay in touch with people we care about.

Panic on the brain, world has gone insane
Things are starting to get heavy.
I can’t help but think I haven’t felt this way
Since I asked you to go steady

Would you be, my little quarantine?
Or is this the way it ends?

The YouTube page says that the “exclusive Crew Nation hoodie is available now at A portion of proceeds from this song + the TØP Crew Nation hoodie will go to Crew Nation – Global Relief Fund For Live Music Crews. Crew Nation is powered by Music Forward Foundation, a charitable 501c3 organization, that will be administering the fund.”

The song is available digitally everywhere music can be streamed.

twenty one pilots is a pop/rock duo formed by Tyler Joseph in 2009 and joined by former House of Heroes touring drummer Josh Dun in 2012. Their 2018 project Trench was released to critical acclaim after a year-long hiatus. The album featured hit songs like “Jumpsuit” and “Nico and the Niners.” Trench was nominated for a Grammy Award and is certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
