Steve Taylor is a legendary producer in the Christian music industry, with credentials on albums by Newsboys, Sixpence None The Richer, and as a solo artist. Perhaps less known is his time in rock band Chagall Guevara from 1989 to 1993.
Chagall Guevara launched a Kickstarter campaign in hopes of releasing a live album recorded in November 1991 at Nashville’s iconic 328 Performance Hall. According to the campaign page, “that live album, now entitled The Last Amen, is finally ready to be heard.”
In addition to a complimentary download of the live album, fans making donations will be rewarded with a full length album of unreleased tracks from the vault entitled Halcyon Days. The campaign had set a goal of $40,000 and as of this writing was nearing $60,000 with 22 days to go.
Chagall Guevara, according to Wikipedia, “was named after Communist revolutionary Che Guevara and painter Marc Chagall to imply the meaning ‘revolutionary art.’ All of the band members had histories within the Christian music industry, but the band was an effort to depart from the CCM industry.”
The band– which included guitarists Dave Perkins and Lynn Nichols, bassist Wade Jaynes, and drummer Mike Mead– released four albums during their brief time together. Their early 1990s self titled album can be found on Spotify and Apple Music.

Rock On Purpose 
Chagall Guevara is one of my favorite bands! When I don’t know what to listen to, or am bored with what’s new or with other music I already have, I listen to their 1991 album. I am very excited to finally hear some more music from a great singer and some very talented musicians!
